First of all I have to apologize for skipping March totally but I just didn´t have the time. Luckily I´ve collected the cream of the crap from April 2011. Previous month offered some really good choices even for an album cover of the year. I was really pleased to see some brave design solutions and the usage of white space in covers such as `It´s Getting Colder` by We Made God, `Mission Polarlights`by The Satellite Year and `Go Now and Live`by We Are Ocean. Also I had a blast looking at some old school illustration in `Demonic Alliance` by Harm. By no means it is not seriously really good but you gotta admire the good illustration and the homage to old school massacre-style you´ve witnessed from bands like Sodom.
I am a fan of creative ideas and solutions. I love when bands have the balls to come up with something totally unexpected and still maintain the identity of being a metal band. ´Seelenfütterung´by Henke has this weird skeleton bird trying to catch a butterfly. If you take a closer look at the cover you can see some more details. Impressive! Also Letlive.´s cover looks like a 2011 version of `Pet Sounds`by Beach Boys.
The winner of this month almost dropped my jaw. I really love the way the designer has worked with the image of the sculptures (or statues, what eva). It is almost that they were alive. The logo of the band is placed properly and the logo-look of the album title `The Great Mass` fits perfectly below the band logo.
Enough talking! Take a look at these covers and feel free to comment. And as always, if you find your own work here, please let me know and I´ll give you thecredit you deserve.
